Transition to Employment Toolkit

Students with Autism

Autism unemployment rate is currently at 78%. It is the highest of all special needs groups. Research by the Office of National Statistics also shows that over 700,000 young people are currently not in employment, education or training.

We are committed to improve these statistics and are very happy to announce the launch of the brand new Transition to Employment Toolkit. The new resource will support autistic students with their transition into employment after education.

The Toolkit is accessible to all on the Ambitious about Autism website and it will help to tackle the low autism employment rate, which is currently at 22% and the lowest of all disabled groups.

What’s included?

The Tools provided will help more autistic young people access sustainable and meaningful opportunities. The tools will help develop awareness of employers understanding of autism and support the hiring and retaining of talented young people.

BIMA Digital Day

10th November

Every year, Digital Day gives thousands of students across the UK the chance to explore the world of digital careers by learning from – and being inspired by – the people who already work in it. They will also take part in sponsored national challenges with some fantastic prizes up for grabs.

Run by BIMA, the voice of the UK digital and tech industry, Digital Day is about:

·      Building understanding by learning about the opportunities offered by the UK digital and tech sectors.
·      Encountering employers and employees who work in digital, and who will join us in school for the day.
·      Addressing the needs of every pupil – the day will highlight the breadth of opportunities open to students, from data analysts to graphic designers, writers to virtual reality developers. Creative, analytical, managerial, technical – there really is something for everyone.
·      Personal guidance – in addition to in-person support with the day’s practical challenges, students will receive resources to help them explore further.

More info about Digital Day 2021 can be found on our site: https://bima.co.uk/bima-programmes/bima-digital-day/ but also it would be amazing to get on a call with a member of your team soon, so we are able to speak further about how Digital Day runs and also what you would require from us in order to assist your contribution to this very educational and interactive day.
