Online engagement with researchers at local universities in the FUTURES Zone

Mainstream Schools

“The highlight is the range of experiences and roles that the researchers bring to the discussion – there’s something to interest and excite all of the students.” – Moira Macleod, Teacher, April 2021

From 24 September to 8 October 2021, show your students the real-world applications of their classroom learning and give them a peek into what researchers at local universities are up to.

The FUTURES Zone supports school students to see STEM as something ‘for them’ by connecting them with researchers from South West universities, through online text-based live Chats.

Get started at https://imascientist.org.uk/teachers/futures

The FUTURES Zone runs on the I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here platform. You can book a live Chat for your class to speak to researchers at South West universities. Chats are easy to set up, last 40 minutes, and you can choose to take part at times that suit you over the 2 week activity. Take part with one class, or a whole year group.

The activity is online and accessible from any web browser with an internet connection. It’s also text-based, so you don’t need audio or video to take part.

The activity is funded for state-maintained schools in the South West of England.
