Extended Project Qualification

AS Level

Curriculum

As a student of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the choice and design of a project and take responsibility either for an individual task or for a defined task within a group project. You will develop and improve your own learning and performance as a critical, reflective and independent student. You will develop and apply decision-making and problem-solving skills and extend your planning, research, critical thinking, analysis, synthesis, evaluation and presentation skills. You will develop and apply skills creatively, demonstrating initiative and enterprise. You will use your learning experiences to support your aspirations for higher education and/or career development. You will also transfer skills developed as part of your extended project to other areas of study.

Progression

Extended Project Qualification is seen as one of the key supporting qualifications to university study, developing independence and research skills. It accompanies any vocational or academic study programme and is a useful tool whatever a student’s pathway.

100% coursework via project log, essay/artefact and presentation

Opportunities for work related activities

This project supports many employment routes as it prepares students for working independently. It teaches students to manage their time, control their resources and bring to life significant work over a long period of time.
