New Welcome Inclusion Letter
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to the new academic year. We hope that you and your family have had a restful and enjoyable summer break.
As we begin the year, we would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as the Inclusion Team and share some key dates and opportunities for parents and carers of children with additional needs. We are committed to working in partnership with families to ensure that all students feel supported, valued and able to thrive at school.
Working Together: Parent and Carer Partnership Group
For the coming academic year, we are looking to establish a Parent and Carer Partnership Group. This group will provide an opportunity for parents and carers to work alongside the school, helping to shape key areas of SEND provision and contribute to the ongoing review and development of our SEND Information Report.
We are keen to hear from a broad range of parents and carers whose children may have SEND, additional needs, or experiences of accessing support within school. The commitment would be minimal, with one meeting per term after school, lasting approximately one hour.
If you would be interested in being involved, please contact the Inclusion Team. We would love to hear from you.
Key Dates for Your Diary
Parent Space
Our termly SEND Parent Space provides an informal opportunity to speak with members of the Inclusion Team, share experiences, and meet other parents and carers over refreshments. We are often joined by representatives from North Somerset Parent Carers Working Together, and we hope that members of our Mental Health Support Team will also be available.
This informal session is an opportunity for parents and carers to meet members of the SEND Team, connect with other families, and enjoy some refreshments. There is no agenda and no expectation to attend; it is simply an opportunity to say hello and ask any questions you may have.
- Wednesday 30 September | 3:15pm to 4.30 pm | The NEST
- Wednesday 11 November | 3:15pm to 4.30 pm
- Wednesday 9th December 10am-11.30am
Parent Learning Opportunities
Following the positive feedback from our trial sessions last year, we are pleased to be expanding our programme of parent learning opportunities. Further details and dates will be shared in due course.
These sessions will be delivered through a mixture of face-to-face and online formats and, during the first term, will focus on topics including:
- Mentally healthy strategies for young people
- Developing emotional literacy
- Supporting children to navigate social media safely and positively
We look forward to working with you throughout the year and continuing to strengthen the partnership between home and school. Together, we can ensure that every child receives the support they need to flourish.
Kind regards,
The Inclusion Team
