Swim Gala

Swim Gala – Thursday 30th March

This year’s annual WHA swimming gala will take place on Thursday 30th March from 1pm – 3pm at Hutton Moor pool. The gala takes place during the school day and will involve all KS3 students and staff. Nonswimming year 7, 8 and 9 students can enjoy the event supporting their house. Non-swimming year 12 and 13 students will have their normal pm lessons with their normal teachers at WHA.

Students will be selecting which events they would like to take part in during their PE lessons and in tutor time. As the event counts towards the house cup (with lots of points on offer!) we are encouraging students to bring along a T shirt in their house colour to wear during the gala, students can change into these at school.

All students are encouraged to bring a snack and water bottle for the afternoon, those students who are participating in the swimming will also need their towel and appropriate swimwear. There will be medals for all participants that finish in the top 3 (including relays and the famous raft races). Students have been communicating their swimming ability in PE lessons and we will further assess this during the warm-up.

Students will be walked from WHA to Hutton Moor in their year group by their tutors. Students will be dismissed from Hutton Moor at 3pm. Family and friends of participating students are able to sign up to attend via parent pay. £3 per person or £10 for a family ticket (up to a maximum of 2 adults and 4 children). WHA have hired the whole pool for the event.
