Winterstoke Hundred Academy students attend MOVE IT's 20th anniversary celebration

Winterstoke Hundred Academy recently attended the world-renowned MOVE IT dance event, celebrating its 20th anniversary over three exciting days.

MOVE IT is the biggest dance event in the world, welcoming more than 33,000 dancers, teachers, spectators, and industry professionals of all ages and skill levels. This landmark event continues to be a beacon of celebration for the dance and performing arts industry.

Post 16 dancers, alongside a select group of Year 11 students, were given the opportunity to experience this incredible event firsthand. The visit aimed to provide students with valuable insight into the dance industry, showcasing potential career pathways through college and university.

Abigail Bartlett, Teacher of geography and Dance at Winterstoke Hundred Academy, said: “This trip will be available for the upcoming BTEC dance cohorts as we wish to continue the growth of performing arts at Winterstoke Hundred Academy.

“We believe experiences like MOVE IT are invaluable for our students, broadening their understanding of the industry and inspiring their future ambitions.”

For students passionate about dance, Winterstoke Hundred now offers a Level 2 BTEC dance course for Years 10 and 11.

Those looking to pursue dance further can enrol in the Level 3 BTEC dance course at our Post 16 site, which is equivalent to three A-levels.

In addition to these academic opportunities, we also run an engaging after-school dance club every Thursday from 3-4pm, which is open to all students interested in dance.

A huge thank you goes to Mr Milkins for driving the minibus to this event, and to the parents and carers for their continued support in making this enriching experience possible.
