Winterstoke Hundred Academy students shine at North Somerset Dance Festival
Twenty-four talented students from Winterstoke Hundred Academy (WHA), spanning Years 7 to 13, took to the stage at the Playhouse Theatre to participate in the prestigious North Somerset Dance Festival.
This year marked the festival’s 20th anniversary, with the fitting theme of ‘celebration’ setting the tone for an electrifying evening of dance.
The academy’s after-school dance club delivered a vibrant and energetic performance inspired by carnivals, showcasing both seasoned performers returning for their third festival appearance and newcomers making their debut.
Adding to the excitement, WHA’s Post 16 students took the stage with a dynamic fusion of hip-hop styles, demonstrating their versatility and passion for dance.
Abigail Bartlett teacher of Dance said: “This event was a remarkable success and provided an invaluable opportunity for students to represent WHA at an external festival.
“The dedication and commitment of students, staff, and families made this achievement possible. A heartfelt thank you goes to the parents and carers who consistently support their children by ensuring they attend weekly rehearsals and for their presence in the audience, cheering on the performers.”
A special note of appreciation goes to Miss Birtles, Miss Henry-Tarleton, Miss Spencer, Miss Lock, and Miss Moore for their invaluable behind-the-scenes support in making this event a reality.
Looking ahead, our students are eagerly preparing for their next performance at the WHA Easter Show on Tuesday, 1 April.
School leaders warmly invite everyone to join the young dancers for another spectacular showcase of talent and creativity.
