Winterstoke Hundred students enjoy enrichment and Easter fun

The school’s post-16 students are given the opportunity to enjoy enrichment activities every Wednesday afternoon. These sessions offer a range of student-led choices such as arts and crafts, sporting events, cooking, and gaming — all designed to support a healthy balance between academic focus and personal wellbeing.

Staff are committed to the ethos of ‘work hard, play hard’, acknowledging the intensity of A-level studies and the importance of regular downtime for students’ mental health.

This term, students took part in the academy’s much-anticipated annual Easter egg hunt, which added a festive twist to their enrichment. Plastic eggs were cleverly hidden around the building, and for each one found, students were rewarded with a chocolate egg.

The event didn’t stop there. Staff organised a lively carousel of Easter-themed activities, including blindfolded Easter biscuit decorating, a competition for the best clay bunny, and the ever-popular egg and spoon race.

Students competed in teams of four and were judged on creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm, with prizes awarded to the overall winning team.

Mrs Sharon Cox, Post 16 Learning Mentor, said: “Our enrichment programme is about more than just fun — it’s about building resilience, friendships, and supporting the wellbeing of every student.

“Events like these bring our post-16 community together and create lasting memories.”
