Winterstoke remembers the fallen

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, staff and students from Winterstoke Hundred Academy gathered to remember all those who have fallen in conflict over many wars and many years.
Students who are members of the Scouts, Guides, or Cadets were invited to wear their uniforms to school to mark this special occasion, standing as proud representatives of service and remembrance.
At 11am, the entire academy joined together for a two-minute silence, pausing alongside the rest of the nation to pay their respects to those who gave their lives in service.
Carlo Hooper, Assistant Principal at Winterstoke Hundred Academy, said: “It’s incredibly important for our young people to understand the significance of Remembrance Day.
“Taking this time together allows us to reflect on the sacrifices made for the freedoms we have today and to honour the courage of all who have served.”
