Curriculum

Spanish puts you in touch with 400 million native speakers around the world. It is an essential language for global business, as well as for leisure and tourism. As an A-Level Spanish linguist you will build on language and communication skills learned at GCSE, learn more about culture and society, and widen your employment prospects. It is, however, not just about speaking Spanish. You will study technological and social change, looking at the multicultural nature of Hispanic society. You will explore Hispanic artistic culture, including Spanish regional identity and the cultural heritage of past civilisations, as well as learning about all the aspects of the political landscape across the Spanish-speaking world.

Progression

BA in Modern Foreign Languages; combined with courses such as Politics, International Management or Tourism.
The wider transferable skills from A Level Spanish will also help your application to any course, including medicine, law, engineering etc.

Careers

Languages are beneficial to almost any career. Some of these include: journalist; publisher; teacher; translator; tour guide; diplomat; banker; buyer.

Additional Entry Requirements

Grade 5/6 in GCSE Spanish.

Assessment

External summer examinations at the end of year 13 in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
