Computer Science update

Dear parents/carers,

You will be aware that we have been actively working to recruit a computer science teacher for Winterstoke Hundred Academy. We know how important this is for your child and I wanted to update you on the current situation.

I am pleased to share that we have recruited a computer science teacher who will start in November. This leaves us with a six-week period whilst we await their start date. Currently, the plan to counter this is that Mr Foulger will provide a double lesson for students at 4pm-5:40pm on Thursdays. From Term 2 Students will have an additional 2 timetabled lessons per week to address this gap in provision. This additional level of provision will continue until the start of their external examinations in May.

To counter-act the late lessons on a Thursday, it has been agreed that students can have a late start/early finish on a day when they do not have lessons. I will speak to students individually about this and decide which day is  most appropriate for them.

We want to thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter, please do contact me if you wish to discuss anything in more detail.

Yours faithfully,

Claire Kelly
Assistant Principal, Sixth form.
