PSHE
PSHE at Winterstoke Hundred Academy is designed to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental, and physical development of pupils at the school and of society, and to prepare pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of later life.
The curriculum is designed to:
- provide pupils with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, values, and skills they need in order to reach their potential as individuals and within the community, to make sense and meaning of themselves and their world, to gain a sense of self, sense of place and develop self-agency and to enable them to make positive choices in life and their community.
- enable pupils to be healthy, safe, and informed young people, who can make positive life choices and prepare for the physical and emotional changes they will encounter as they grown into young adults.
Ultimately the PSHE curriculum prepares our young people for the challenges, opportunities and responsibilities of life by equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to become confident and competent members of society.
PSHE follows the Jigsaw curriculum, appropriate to each year group. There are additional lessons where appropriate to address current and school-related events.
